Don't forget about palladium. Palladium is a naturally white and affordable metal that is a better choice over white gold if platinum is not an option.

Also keep in mind that any consumer's best option is to educate themselves about all the common metal choices for wedding bands, engagement rings and jewelry - platinum, palladium, gold and even sterling silver. After all, jewelry can be considered and investment, an educated consumer is the jewelry industry's best customer. It's good to also realize that metals prices fluctuate - kind of like oil and other commodities do.

"Platinum rings have a whiny white look and last forever without a single scratch."

A word to the wise, its simply not true that platinum wont scratch. Platinum is durable, but its surface is not as hard as a metal such as tungsten. Platinum scratches, but the good news is that when you scratch a platinum ring, your just moving the metal, unlike a gold ring where those scratches are literally removing the gold from the ring.

You can have a platinum ring polished to bring back its shiny appearance, while with white gold you need to have the ring re-dipped in rhodium to keep it white because the gold is not literally white, its just coated to give it a white appearance.

Be careful with Titanium too, you cant get the rings resized and people have literally had to get them cut off their hands because fingers change size naturally.

Happy ring hunting to all of you out there, do you research, dont let a salesperson talk you out of what you want, and ultimately you will be happy!
